Discover how SafeLink Wireless is bridging the digital divide and how you can qualify for their SafeLink Wireless free tablet through the EBB program. This blog explains the eligibility criteria and the simple application process.

How To Obtain A Free SafeLink Tablet Through The EBB Program

Access to technology is no longer a luxury; it's a necessity. Recognizing the importance of connectivity, especially in a digital age, Tracfone Wireless Inc. has partnered with the government to offer the SafeLink Wireless free tablet program. This initiative, part of the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program, aims to assist underprivileged individuals and families in the United States by providing free tablets equipped with a range of benefits.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for the SafeLink free tablet program aligns with the Federal Communication Commission's guidelines. There are two primary aspects that determine eligibility: income and participation in specific government programs.

Regarding income, households qualify if their income is less than 135% of the federal poverty guidelines. Households with higher income are not eligible.

In addition to income restrictions, at least one family member must meet one of several additional criteria. These criteria include:

  • Receiving a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year

  • Participation in the National School Lunch or Breakfast Program

  • Being part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

  • Enrollment in Medicaid

  • Living in housing supported by Federal Public Housing Assistance

  • Receiving Supplemental Security Income

  • Being a holder of pension or survivor benefits

Eligibility also extends to those residing in Tribal lands who meet specific criteria, including membership in the Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, participation in the Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), receiving assistance from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, or belonging to Tribal Head Start.

Application Process

Applying for the SafeLink free tablet is a straightforward process, but it requires preparation. After determining eligibility, applicants must gather the necessary documentation to prove their status. Required documents include:

  • A statement of Social Security benefits

  • A letter from the employer confirming income

  • A Compensation statement (if unemployed)

  • Documents proving payments for the last three months

  • Tax Return proofs (either Federal or State)

  • Documents including income information (like a child support award or divorce decree)

  • A statement of benefits (if retired or a war survivor)

All these documents must be attached to the application for the free SafeLink tablet.

Once the documents are ready, the application process can begin. The process can be carried out through the SafeLink official website or the National Verifier website. The steps include:

  • Opening a browser and searching for the free tablet SafeLink on the search engine

  • Entering the official website and selecting the application from the menu

  • Providing the state name and ZIP code

  • Filling in personal information, including name, date of birth, home address, mailing address, and phone number

  • Attaching a government ID (like a Social Security Number, driving license, or military ID)

  • Clicking on the proceed button to submit the application

The authority will then review the application, and if approved, the applicant will receive further information through email.
